100 MB to GB: 100 MB Equals 0.1 GB

100 MB equals 0.1 GB using decimal units where 1 GB = 1000 MB. See the formula, keep MB/GB separate from MiB/GiB, and convert another value.

Quick reference

0.1 GB

100 MB → GB

How the conversion works

100 ÷ 1000 = 0.1 GB. The quick answer is rounded for readability; use the live calculator below for another value or more precision.

When this is useful

Use this conversion when checking upload limits, storage sizes, attachment limits, download sizes or device capacity. Keeping MB, GB and binary units distinct prevents file-size mistakes.

100 MB against real upload limits

100 MB is 0.1 GB, a tenth of a decimal gigabyte. Limits written in binary units are a little larger: 100 MiB is 104,857,600 bytes, so a file can be over "100 MB" on one site and under "100 MB" on another.

Unit100 MB equals
Bytes100,000,000
Kilobytes (1 KB = 1000 bytes)100,000
Mebibytes (MiB)95.37
Gibibytes (GiB)0.0931
Gigabytes (GB)0.1
  • GitHub blocks any file larger than 100 MiB and warns above 50 MiB. A file of exactly 100 MB is 95.37 MiB, so GitHub accepts it, with a warning.
  • When Windows File Explorer lists a file as 100 MB it is counting in binary, so the file really holds 104,857,600 bytes, which a decimal label would call 104.86 MB.
  • Files added through GitHub in the browser are capped at 25 MiB (26.21 MB), roughly a quarter of 100 MB, so a 100 MB file has to be pushed with Git instead.
  • Ten files of 100 MB fill one decimal gigabyte but only 0.93 GiB, which is why a folder of them looks smaller than 1 GB on a PC.

For the binary figure, divide by 1.048576: 100 ÷ 1.048576 = 95.37 MiB. For decimal GB, divide by 1000.

KB/MB/GB/TB are decimal units (1000). KiB/MiB/GiB/TiB are binary units (1024). They are distinct units.

A quick note before you use the number

This page uses decimal MB and GB for MB↔GB examples: 1 GB = 1000 MB. Binary MiB and GiB use powers of 1024 and are separate units.
