About MAXScanner
MAXScanner is a task-focused PDF, image, media and calculator toolkit. Many file tools run locally in your browser; some conversions, account features and API workflows use server-side processing when the tool says so.

We believe that everyone should have access to powerful PDF tools without compromising their privacy or paying expensive subscription fees. That's why we created MAXScanner – a comprehensive PDF toolkit that puts your privacy first.
MAXScanner prefers browser-local processing when it is practical and uses server-side processing for capabilities that need it. Each tool should state its processing model before you start.
Typical jobs: shrinking a photo to fit an upload limit, combining scanned pages into one PDF, converting a Word file for a portal that only accepts PDF, or checking a quick calculation.
What MAXScanner is
MAXScanner is a set of free web tools for everyday file and number jobs: 100 document and PDF tools, image tools for resizing, compressing and converting photos, audio and video converters, text utilities and calculators. Everything opens in the browser with no install, and the web tools work without an account.
Where your files are processed
MAXScanner uses two processing modes. Tools that need a server say so before you add a file.
In your browser
Most PDF tools (merge, split, rotate, reorder, compress, sign, watermark and similar), the image tools, the text tools and every calculator. Your file or the numbers you enter are processed by code running on your device and are not uploaded for that operation.
On MAXScanner servers
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and RTF to PDF, PDF to PDF/A, webpage to PDF, the audio and video tools, and jobs sent through the developer API. The file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed, and the result is returned to you.

Our Values
Processing transparency
Browser-local tools keep selected files on your device. Server-backed tools identify when a file must be sent for processing.
Browser-first where possible
Local tools use WebAssembly and Web Workers, so a merge or resize starts without an upload wait and the file stays on your device.
11 interface languages
The site is available in 11 languages. Many translations are machine-assisted and still waiting for native-speaker review, so English is the reference version.
Free web tools
The web tools are free and need no account. Only the developer API has paid credit plans, on top of a small free allowance.

Editorial and methodology
How tools are built and tested: each tool is built for one job and relies on established libraries such as pdf-lib, PDF.js and the browser's own image codecs. Automated checks run before every release, and the processing code is covered by tests on sample files.
How calculators are checked: every calculator shows its formula, units and assumptions on the page. Formulas come from primary references such as standards bodies, textbooks and official guidance, and they are checked against worked examples.
How guides and explanations are written: they lead with the direct answer, use measured examples from our own tools where we can, and say when a tool is not the right choice. Pages that cannot offer more than a template are kept out of search results.
Translations: interface and page text are translated with machine assistance and checked automatically for numbers, units and placeholders. Native-speaker review is ongoing.
Corrections: if a result, formula or explanation looks wrong, email [email protected] with the page address and what you expected. Confirmed errors are fixed and the page is updated. [email protected]
