Base64 to Image Converter
Decode a Base64 string or data URI, preview the image and download it as a real file in your browser.
Up to 20 MiB and 40 million pixels per image. Contact sheets accept 2–50 images, up to 100 MiB total. Icon outputs fit the complete image inside a square with transparent padding.

Decode Base64 image data back into a real file
Base64-to-image conversion is useful when an API response, JSON fixture, HTML data URI or debugging workflow contains an image as text instead of a normal file.
Paste the complete representation when possible
A data URI includes both the MIME type and the Base64 payload, which lets the tool identify the intended image type. Raw Base64 may need an explicit or inferable format.
Verify the decoded file
Preview the result and check the decoded dimensions and file type before saving it. Keep the original text payload when it is part of a test fixture or API debugging record.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a data URI to PNG or JPG?
Yes, when the embedded image data is a supported raster image. The decoded result can then be downloaded as a normal file.
Why does my Base64 string fail?
The string may be truncated, contain invalid characters, include extra JSON or quotes, or be missing the expected image payload.
Does decoding Base64 restore image quality?
Decoding restores the same image bytes represented by the Base64 data. It does not improve the source image.
What is the difference between Base64 and a data URI?
Base64 is the encoded payload. A data URI wraps that payload with a MIME type and prefix so it can be embedded directly in documents.
