Formula and worked example
Volume = area × depth; cubic yards = cubic feet ÷ 27; bags = ceil(required volume ÷ bag volume).
A 20 ft × 10 ft bed at 3 in depth needs 50 ft³, or about 1.852 yd³ before waste.
