  1. 1. Sessions needed = ceil(180 ÷ 25) = 8.
  2. 2. Focus time = 8 × 25 = 200 minutes.
  3. 3. Break plan = 6 short × 5 + 1 long × 15 = 45 minutes.
  4. 4. Total target plan = 200 + 45 = 245 minutes.
  5. 5. Within 240 available minutes, 7 complete sessions fit with 25 minutes remaining.

Planning results follow only the schedule and capacity assumptions entered above. Holidays, leave, interruptions and individual performance are not inferred unless the calculator explicitly includes them.

How to use this calculator

Pomodoro Time Calculator turns the schedule and capacity values you enter into a planning estimate. It does not guess holidays, leave, local labor rules or interruptions that are not represented in the inputs.

Step-by-step

  1. Step 1

Enter the schedule or workload values shown.

  2. Step 2

Set the work/study days, breaks, rates or thresholds that apply.

  3. Step 3

Review the result and the assumptions displayed beside it.

Common questions

Are holidays automatically removed?

No, unless a specific calculator provides a holiday input.

Are overtime rules automatic?

No. Overtime calculations use the threshold or multiplier you enter and do not determine legal entitlement.

Can I use a six- or seven-day schedule?

Use the day controls available on this calculator.

Planning notes

Plan a custom Pomodoro-style sequence and test whether it fits

This owner separates two questions competitors often blur together: how many sessions are required for the focused minutes you want, and how many complete sessions actually fit in the time window available. Focus, short-break, long-break and long-break frequency are all explicit.

Worked example — 180 focused minutes, 240 available

With 25-minute focus blocks, 5-minute short breaks, a 15-minute long break every four sessions, 180 focused minutes requires 8 sessions. That target sequence takes 245 minutes, while only 7 complete sessions fit inside a 240-minute window, leaving 25 minutes after the seventh session plan.

Useful for

  • Checking whether a Pomodoro target fits before starting
  • Comparing classic 25/5 with longer custom cycles
  • Planning long-break placement in a multi-session work block

Limits and assumptions

  • The familiar 25/5 pattern is a preset, not a requirement or health recommendation.
  • A long break replaces the short break at its configured interval; no break is appended after the final session.
  • The fit calculation counts only complete sessions and their required between-session breaks.

Questions about this planning model

Why can the target plan be longer than my available time?

Target sessions are derived from the focused minutes requested. The separate window-fit result then shows how many complete sessions actually fit.

Is a long break added after the final session?

No. There is no trailing break after the final focus session.

Can I change the long-break frequency?

Yes. Enter how many completed focus sessions should occur between long breaks.
