Where calculator definitions and assumptions come from
MAXScanner separates stable mathematical identities from values that belong to a standards body, manufacturer, supplier, drawing or the person doing the calculation.
Units and conversion constants
For SI units and internationally defined relationships, we favor primary metrology references such as the BIPM SI Brochure and NIST material that reflects SI definitions. Exact relationships, such as 1 inch = 25.4 millimeters, are treated as exact rather than estimated conversion factors.
- • Decimal storage units and binary IEC-style units are labeled separately.
- • US liquid gallons are not silently substituted for imperial gallons.
- • Mass and everyday “weight” labels are explained where the numerical operation is a mass-unit conversion.
Mathematics and geometry
Arithmetic, algebra, fractions and Euclidean geometry use standard mathematical identities that can be derived directly on the page. We prefer showing the equation and substituted values over citing a secondary calculator as authority.
Electrical relationships
Basic identities such as Ohm’s law, real/apparent power relationships and the balanced three-phase √3 relationship are exposed as formulas. When a value such as efficiency or power factor belongs to equipment, MAXScanner asks for that value instead of inventing one.
Installation design is a different task from formula evaluation. Where conductor ampacity, protection, derating, motor tables or jurisdiction-specific requirements would be needed, the page directs the user back to the governing standard, manufacturer documentation and qualified design process.
Construction and product quantities
Manufacturer and supplier information outranks a generic website assumption for coverage, yield, pack size, density or installation requirement. That is why paint coverage, concrete bag yield, flooring box coverage, gravel density and similar variables are editable inputs.
Dates and time zones
Calendar-date calculations use the Gregorian calendar rules implemented by the runtime. Named time-zone tools depend on the IANA time-zone data exposed by the browser/runtime; offsets can change across daylight-saving transitions and historical rule updates.
What we do not use as authority
Competitor calculators are useful for understanding search intent and feature expectations, but their prose, tables, examples and unpublished assumptions are not source material for MAXScanner. We do not copy competitor text or present another calculator’s output as a primary reference.
