Clean formatting without guessing what the document meant
Start with the smallest change that solves the problem. If the words are correct but every PDF line ends early, turn on “Join wrapped lines, keep paragraphs.” The tool joins single line breaks with a space and treats blank lines as paragraph boundaries. A list without blank lines may become a paragraph, so review lists separately.
Extra spaces and blank lines are different problems. Collapsing spaces also collapses tabs, which can destroy a plain text table’s alignment. Removing blank lines makes the text more compact but removes paragraph separation. Keep those options off when the spacing carries information, as it often does in logs, code and exported tables.
A line-end hyphen can be a broken word or a real part of a name. The optional dehyphenation rule joins letters across a hyphen followed by a line break. It cannot know the writer’s intent. Check compound words and identifiers after using it. Soft hyphens have their own separate removal option; joiners used by scripts and emoji are not stripped.
Batch mode uses the selected rules on each original file independently. Preview any original in the editor before exporting. Changes typed into that editor do not alter the batch originals. The ZIP includes a settings file so you can see which transformations were applied. This is formatting cleanup, not spell correction, paraphrasing or a way to verify an OCR result against its image.
