About This Tool
To convert TXT to PDF, upload the .txt file (or paste the text), pick a page size and font, then select Convert to PDF. The text is laid out on PDF pages in your browser and is not uploaded. With the defaults (A4, Helvetica 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margins) each page holds 39 lines.
What happens to the text
- Line endings: Windows (CRLF), Mac and Linux line endings all become ordinary line breaks.
- Tabs: each tab becomes spaces up to the next 4-column stop, so indented lines stay indented.
- Long lines: lines wrap at spaces. A token wider than the page, such as a long URL or Chinese text written without spaces, is split between characters instead of running off the edge.
- Other scripts: Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic text switches to a matching Noto font automatically, and Arabic letters are joined and run right to left. For Hebrew or Thai, choose Noto Sans Hebrew or Noto Sans Thai in the font list.
Results from real files
| Input | Time | |
|---|---|---|
| Windows Notepad file, 60 notes with tabs, 5,031 bytes | 2 pages, 2,790 bytes | 0.45 s |
| Server log, 5,000 lines, 394,390 bytes | 129 pages, 188,721 bytes | 1.24 s |
| Chinese paragraph without spaces, 769 bytes | 1 page, 7,046 bytes, wrapped | 1.6 s |
| Arabic sentence, 140 bytes | 1 page, 5,299 bytes | 0.8 s |
Measured on 18 October 2026 in Chrome with the default settings. Files with other scripts take longer because the font is downloaded once and then cached.
Choosing a font
Use Courier for logs, code and text tables: every character has the same width, so columns that line up in Notepad still line up in the PDF. Helvetica and Times are easier to read for notes and letters, but spaces are narrower than letters, so aligned columns drift.
When another route is better
Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and other Indic scripts, and emoji, are not supported yet: the converter stops with an error rather than printing empty boxes. For those, open the file in a browser or word processor and use Print → Save as PDF. That route is also the one to use when you need bold headings or mixed fonts, because a TXT file carries no formatting at all.
How to Use
Add the text
Upload one or more .txt files, or switch to direct text entry and paste. Several files are joined in the order shown, with a blank line between them.
Set the page
Choose A4, Letter, Legal, A5, A3 or a custom size in points, and portrait or landscape. Landscape suits wide logs and tables.
Pick font and spacing
Courier for logs and aligned text, Helvetica or Times for prose. Leave wrapping on unless every line must stay on one row.
Convert and check
Select Convert to PDF, download, and look at the first and last page. The file is named after the source, for example notes.txt becomes notes.pdf.
Use Cases
Notepad notes and exports
Windows .txt files with CRLF line endings and tab indents convert as they look in Notepad.
Logs and code for review
Print a log or config file in Courier, in landscape if lines are long, so it can be annotated or attached to a ticket.
Text in other scripts
Turn Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Arabic text into a PDF with the correct font picked automatically; pick the Noto font for Hebrew or Thai.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert a Notepad file to PDF?+
Upload the .txt file here and select Convert to PDF. Windows line endings and tabs are converted automatically. Inside Windows you can also use File → Print → Microsoft Print to PDF in Notepad.
Is my text uploaded to a server?+
No. TXT to PDF runs in your browser. Only the fonts for non-Latin scripts are downloaded, and your text is not sent with that request.
Can I convert Arabic or Chinese text to PDF?+
Yes. Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean text gets a matching Noto font automatically, and Hebrew or Thai works once you choose Noto Sans Hebrew or Noto Sans Thai. Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and emoji are not supported yet; the converter stops instead of printing empty boxes.
Why do my columns not line up in the PDF?+
Helvetica and Times are proportional fonts. Choose Courier, which gives every character the same width, and the spacing from the text file is kept.
How many pages will my PDF have?+
With the defaults, 39 lines fit on an A4 page, so a 5,000-line log made 129 pages in our test. A smaller font size, less line spacing or landscape orientation fits more on each page.
Can I combine several text files into one PDF?+
Yes. Add the files together and they are joined in the order listed, separated by a blank line, into a single PDF.
