kVA is apparent power, so converting kVA to current does not require power factor. The required denominator depends on phase configuration and on whether a balanced three-phase voltage is entered line-to-line or line-to-neutral.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no power-factor input?+

kVA is apparent power. Power factor is needed when converting between apparent power and real power, not when converting kVA directly to current from voltage.

Which three-phase voltage should I enter?+

Choose the matching formula: line-to-line voltage uses √3 × VLL, while line-to-neutral voltage in a balanced wye relationship uses 3 × VLN.

Can this size a breaker or cable?+

No. Current from an ideal power relationship is only one input to an installation design.
