What this calculator actually models
For a balanced three-phase system using line-to-line voltage, apparent power is √3 × VLL × I. Multiplying by power factor gives real power, while the simplified power triangle gives reactive power and phase angle.

Why does the formula use √3?+
With balanced three-phase line-to-line voltage, the phase relationships produce the √3 factor in total apparent power.
Is voltage line-to-line or line-to-neutral?+
This calculator intentionally uses line-to-line voltage. The label and formula keep that convention explicit.
What does kVAR represent?+
In the simplified sinusoidal power triangle, kVAR is reactive power, perpendicular to real kW while kVA is the hypotenuse.
