1920 × 1080 pixels at a glance
1920 × 1080 pixels is a landscape image 1920 pixels wide and 1080 tall: 2,073,600 pixels in total (2.07 megapixels), with a 16:9 aspect ratio (1.778:1). It is the shape of HD video and most monitors, so screenshots and video frames fit without a crop, while a landscape phone photo loses 25% of its height.
It is a large size that fills a desktop screen, and a phone camera photo still has to be scaled down to reach it. On this page our three test files came out at 45.2 KB to 899.5 KB as JPG and 9.5 KB to 776.7 KB as WebP.
Where 1920 × 1080 is asked for, and whether it fits
Microsoft Teams Rooms backgrounds
Microsoft recommends 1920 × 1080 for 16:9 1080p front-of-room displays (3840 × 2160 for 4K) and sets 1920 × 1080 as the minimum; larger images may be centre-cropped. JPG and PNG are accepted. 1920 × 1080 is exactly the minimum and the 1080p recommendation, so it displays without scaling on a 1080p room screen.
YouTube channel banner
YouTube asks for channel banners of at least 2048 × 1152 pixels (16:9), 6 MB or smaller. 1920 × 1080 has the right shape but is 128 pixels too narrow, so YouTube will not accept it as a banner. Use 2048 × 1152 or larger. Our largest JPG at this size was 899.5 KB, within the 6 MB limit.
YouTube video thumbnails
YouTube recommends 3840 × 2160 thumbnails, at least 640 pixels wide, and limits mobile uploads to 2 MB. 1920 × 1080 is a valid 16:9 thumbnail at half the recommended size; check the file size before uploading from a phone. Our largest JPG at this size was 899.5 KB, within the 2 MB limit.

How to make a 1920 × 1080 image
Add your images
Drop one or more JPG, PNG or WebP files. All of them get the same size and format; you can move the crop for each one.
Check the crop
Sources with the same 16:9 shape are only scaled, so the preview shows the whole picture. Other shapes are cropped to fill; drag the preview to choose what stays.
Pick the format
JPG is accepted everywhere. WebP was smaller for most of our test files at this size, if the site accepts it; PNG keeps transparency but makes the largest files.
Download and check
The file name ends in -1920x1080, and the results panel shows the exact pixel size and KB so you can compare them with the form before uploading.
What this page produced from our test files
We ran three fixed test files through this page in headless Chrome 129.0.6668.29 on 2026-10-19, with the default "Crop to fill" setting. Sizes are the bytes of the downloaded files. The test files are generated from a fixed seed so anyone can repeat the run; they are not customer photos. WebP was smaller than JPG for all three files, by 13% to 79%.

Before you upload a 1920 × 1080 image
- Full HD screenshots are already 1920 × 1080, so resizing one to this size changes nothing except the file format and quality.
Frequently asked questions
What aspect ratio is 1920 × 1080?
16:9, or 1.778 to 1. Any size with the same ratio, such as 960 × 540, has the same shape and can be resized to 1920 × 1080 without cropping.
How many KB is a 1920 × 1080 image?
In our tests, 45.2 KB to 899.5 KB as JPG and 9.5 KB to 776.7 KB as WebP. Without compression it would be 5.93 MB. Noise, text and fine texture make files bigger; flat graphics make them smaller.
How big does 1920 × 1080 print?
6.4 × 3.6 in (16.3 × 9.1 cm) at 300 DPI, or 12.8 × 7.2 in (32.5 × 18.3 cm) at 150 DPI. DPI only changes the print size, not the pixels, so the file is the same either way.
