The calculation, without hidden assumptions

Footing concrete quantity is geometry, not structural design. Round piers use a cylinder volume while square and rectangular pads use length × width × depth. MAXScanner keeps the shape explicit, multiplies by the number of identical footings, applies only the allowance you enter and converts the final volume to whole bags using the actual bag yield rather than assuming one package size.

Example: six 12 in × 36 in round piers

Each 12 in diameter, 36 in deep cylindrical pier is about 2.356 cubic ft. Six identical piers total about 14.14 cubic ft before the project allowance.

What the result does not assume

  • Footing dimensions, reinforcement, frost depth and bearing requirements are structural/site decisions and are not selected by this calculator.
  • Excavations are rarely perfect geometric solids. Overbreak, forms, embedded posts or reinforcement details can change real concrete consumption.
