Resize Image to 150×200 Pixels
Resize a photo to exactly 150×200 pixels (150*200, 200 px tall) for Kerala PSC: JPG, 30 KB or less, with the name and date strip still readable.
150 × 200 pixels in short
150 × 200 means 150 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall: a 3:4 portrait of 30,000 pixels. Kerala PSC asks for exactly this photo, which its notices write height first as "200 pixels height, 150 pixels width", in JPG and not more than 30 KB, with your name and the date the photo was taken printed at the bottom.
3:4 is the shape of a phone held upright, so nothing is cropped and the whole photo simply shrinks. Our phone photo became a 4.1 KB file and a studio photo with a name strip 5.2 KB, both far under 30 KB. Kerala PSC sets no minimum, so the part to check is the printed strip, not the size.
Where a 150 × 200 photo is asked for
Kerala PSC profile photo
The KPSC notification of 23 September 2025 and the KPSC FAQ give the photo as 150 pixels wide and 200 pixels high, JPG, not more than 30 KB. Face and shoulders must be clear on a white or light background, eyes open, without cap or goggles unless worn for religious reasons.
The name and date strip
The notice wants the candidate's name and the date the photo was taken printed at the bottom of the photo. In our studio-style test file the strip was 190 of 1,200 pixels high; at 150 × 200 it became about 32 pixels and both lines of text stayed readable.
Photo age and how long it lasts
For profiles created from 1 January 2025 the photo must have been taken within six months. A photo uploaded with every requirement met stays valid for 10 years from the upload date. 2026 recruitment notifications repeat these rules and refer to the General Conditions for the rest.
The Kerala PSC photo rule, line by line
What the notice asks for, read against the file this page makes.
| Rule | What Kerala PSC says | What it means for your file |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel size | 200 pixels height, 150 pixels width | 150 × 200 when written width first; 3:4, the upright phone shape |
| File size | Not exceeding 30 kb | No minimum; our 150 × 200 JPGs were 4.1 KB to 15.8 KB |
| Format | jpg | Keep JPG selected |
| Name and date | Printed at the bottom of the photo | Add it before resizing; this tool does not write text |
| Recency | Within six months for new profiles (from 1 January 2025) | Use a recent photo, not one from an old application |
| Background | White or light coloured, face centred, eyes open | Lighten a dark wall before resizing |

How to make a 150 × 200 photo for Kerala PSC
Start with a photo that has the strip
Ask the studio to print your name and the photo date, or add them yourself: two lines of black text on a white band across the bottom, about one sixth of the photo's height.
Upload the photo
A phone photo held upright, or a studio print scanned upright, is already 3:4. The preview says the source and target are both 3:4, so nothing will be cut off.
Zoom in on the strip in the preview
At 200 pixels tall, small text turns into a grey line. If you cannot read your name in the preview, make the strip taller or the letters bigger and upload again.
Keep JPG and download
The results panel shows the size; anything up to 30 KB is accepted. The file name ends in -150x200.jpg.
Upload once, use for years
A photo that meets every rule stays valid for 10 years from upload, so keep the original and the 150 × 200 JPG together for future applications.
What we got from real files
Two generated test photos (not customer files), run through this page and the kit's Kerala PSC preset in headless Chromium at 390 × 844 on 4 November 2026. Each result was ready 0.08 to 0.30 seconds after the click.
| Input | Setting | Output | What to notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upright phone photo, 3024 × 4032, JPG, 572.1 KB | This page: Crop to fill, JPG | 150 × 200, 4.1 KB | Same 3:4 shape, so nothing was cropped; no name strip yet. |
| Studio photo with a name and date strip, 900 × 1200, JPG, 64.7 KB | This page: Crop to fill, JPG | 150 × 200, 5.2 KB | The strip became about 32 pixels high and stayed readable. |
| The phone photo | Kit, Kerala PSC preset | 150 × 200, 15.8 KB | Saved at higher quality, still under 30 KB. |
| The studio photo | Kit, Kerala PSC preset | 150 × 200, 15.1 KB | Passed pixels, size and format; the kit reminds you about the strip. |
When this page is not the right tool
- Adding the name and date. This page and the kit do not write text onto photos. Add the strip with the studio or a photo editor first, then resize here.
- An old photo. A photo older than six months does not meet the rule for new profiles, however well it is resized.
- A dark or patterned background. Resizing keeps it. Use a background tool or take the photo again against a light wall.
- A landscape photo. A sideways photo has to lose about half its width to become 3:4, which often cuts off a shoulder. Take the photo upright instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is it 150 × 200 or 200 × 150?
Kerala PSC writes "200 pixels height, 150 pixels width", which is 150 × 200 when width comes first, as on this page. 200 × 150 would be a landscape photo and the wrong shape.
What does "150 200 pixels 30 kb" mean?
It is the Kerala PSC photo rule in short: 150 pixels wide, 200 pixels high, and a file no larger than 30 KB. Our 150 × 200 JPGs were 4.1 KB to 15.8 KB.
Do I need my name and date on the photo?
Yes. The notice asks for the candidate's name and the date the photo was taken printed at the bottom of the photograph.
How big should the name strip be?
Big enough to read at 200 pixels tall. In our test a strip of 190 out of 1,200 pixels (about one sixth of the height) with two lines of bold text stayed readable after the resize.
Is there a minimum file size for Kerala PSC?
The notice sets only a maximum of 30 KB. A 150 × 200 JPG is far below that, so there is nothing to pad.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens in your browser, and the photo is not sent to MAXScanner.
